Let the village board start to discuss ways of reducing the tax burden by combining such services as police, fire, and village maintenance with the surrounding communities.

I for one used to own my own lawn company and when I look at the job our city contracted company is doing it is disturbing. Beautification increases land value, and as a Realtor here in Harland that...

I for one used to own my own lawn company and when I look at the job our city contracted company is doing it is disturbing. Beautification increases land value, and as a Realtor here in Harland that matters to me. Simple things, like pruning the shrubs in the dividers on divided roads, take a sprayer of round up with you when you mow, use an edger instead of a weed eater when edging the curbs and sidewalks.
As an example, drive up Hartridge drive. You will see weeds growing in the cracks, butchered shrubs, and over grown curbs. This is the main drive up for parents headed to the elementary school and it looks run down and neglected. It shows our city in a poor light.
We are already paying people to do this work, let make them do it right. As a resident tax payer, I expect better workmanship for my buck. Lazy people should not be paid with tax payer’s money, make them step it up or replace them with someone that will do it right at the same price.

We need regulations to prevent people from parking their cars for extended periods of time on the roads. I've almost been in 6 accidents due to cars blocking the line of sight around a bend in the last month alone. Why do residents not park in their empty driveways? Our neighbor insists on parking his car in front of my house even though we've asked him not to - meanwhile there is not a car in his driveway. This clutters the streets, uses spaces that our guests would like to use, makes the neighborhood look trashy, causes problems when trucks need to come through to make deliveries....the list goes on. Homeowners looking to sell should be aware that this decreases the likelihood that your home will sell. No one wants to stare at a parking lot outside their home. I almost didn't buy in this neighborhood for that exact reason.

We need regulations to prevent people from parking their cars for extended periods of time on the roads. I've almost been in 6 accidents due to cars blocking the line of sight around a bend in the last month alone. Why do residents not park in their empty driveways? Our neighbor insists on parking his car in front of my house even though we've asked him not to - meanwhile there is not a car in his driveway. This clutters the streets, uses spaces that our guests would like to use, makes the neighborhood look trashy, causes problems when trucks need to come through to make deliveries....the list goes on. Homeowners looking to sell should be aware that this decreases the likelihood that your home will sell. No one wants to stare at a parking lot outside their home. To prevent stupid ideas where tax payers give money to poorly crafted projects and the village just gives land away it would be good to mandate and define what class A construction really entails and require that for any development downtown, including remodeling. That way you don't have "B" side construction on the river.
Old buildings should be redone before adding new ones.
Additionally, sight lines to the river should be left open and not closed down with new development.

To prevent stupid ideas where tax payers give money to poorly crafted projects and the village just gives land away it would be good to mandate and define what class A construction really entails and require that for any development downtown, including remodeling. That way you don't have "B" side construction on the river.
Old buildings should be redone before adding new ones.
Additionally, sight lines to the river should be left open and not closed down with new development.

We need more radar speed signs and/or police presence in the village, specifically near Maple and Warren Ave intersection where there are several crosswalks. Vehicles coming off the 4-way stop by Citgo seem to accelerate quickly and far above the 25 mph speed limit. There are many homes with small children and pets in this area and with how fast some drivers travel on this straightaway it would be tragic if a loved one were struck. Please consider quick action. Can netting be installed under the Hwy 16 bridge to make it uninhabitable for pigeons? Everyone I talk to complains about this but I doubt anyone took the time to fill out this form. If it helps I can probably get many more people to complain about this issue. Thanks for all the help.

Can netting be installed under the Hwy 16 bridge to make it uninhabitable for pigeons? Everyone I talk to complains about this but I doubt anyone took the time to fill out this form. If it helps I can probably get many more people to complain about this issue. Thanks for all the help.
