Become a Firefighter or EMT

Become a Firefighter or Emergency Medical Technician

Join the Hartland Fire Department and become part of our family!  Becoming a member of our team will give you an opportunity to serve your community in many different ways.

We have several membership options available:

A Hartland Firefighter / EMT Explorer may join the Hartland Fire Department as a High School Student. The Explorer will learn skills associated with becoming a firefighter / EMT and may take an EMT class and earn credits towards graduation.

A Firefighter / EMT recruit must be at least 18 years of age and pass the Fire Department physical and drug screening process. Applicants may apply with or without EMT/Fire certification. The Fire Department will pay for EMT/Firefighter training through a local technical college or training center.

Hartland Firefighter support staff member is available for someone who is interested in helping at events, around the station and as support at Emergency Scenes. This is perfect for a retiree who wants to stay active, or someone who doesn’t want to be on the front line of Fire or EMS calls.

If you are interested in joining, please stop at the fire station located at 150 Lawn Street for a tour or to talk with a member. If you think it may be right for you, please fill out our application (PDF) and return it to the Fire Department Administrative Assistant.

We are a strong team; if one of these opportunities sounds right for you, we invite you to become a member of our family!
